Nick acquired his 1964 Series 4 Sunbeam Alpine as a non-running project from a friend at the end of 2009. It came with a 1725cc engine with twin Webbers. We stripped it out and then grit blasted, revealing a “worst case scenario”. Nick ordered new panels and set about welding the floor and other panels in, every time we thought we were getting somewhere another hole appeared. Then, quite by chance, at the end of 2010 Nick came across a bodyshell about to be scrapped about five miles from home. This turned out to be a Series 3 bodyshell, with the big fins. Some of the welding of repair panels had already been done and, on the face of it, it looked to be in decent shape. It was.
